You’re making a mechanical watch powered by the Seiko NH35 automatic movement.
You need basic tools and parts.
✅ NH35 Movement (buy online)
✅ Watch case (NH35 compatible)
✅ Dial (with feet positioned for NH35)
✅ Hands (hour, minute, second, sized for NH35)
✅ Chapter ring (optional, matches the case)
✅ Crown + stem (stem may need trimming)
✅ Caseback (solid or see-through)
✅ Crystal (often pre-installed in case)
✅ Gasket set (for water resistance)
✅ Strap or bracelet (20mm, 22mm, etc.)
Tools:
Hand press or hand setting tool
Tweezers
Screwdrivers (small)
Case back opener
Stem cutter or file
Rodico (putty for cleaning)
Loupe (magnifier)
Carefully open the movement box.
Set the stem and crown onto the movement to handle it without touching.
Align dial feet into NH35 movement.
Gently press it down or screw it in, depending on the movement.
Set time to 12:00 first.
Use hand press to install:
Hour hand
Minute hand
Second hand
Make sure hands are straight and don’t touch each other.
Insert movement into case.
Measure how much of the stem sticks out.
Remove stem, cut it shorter, and reattach crown.
Put the movement (with dial and hands) into the watch case.
Secure it (sometimes with case clamps and screws).
Install the gasket.
Screw or press the caseback on.
Check that the crown works (time setting, winding).
Attach the strap or bracelet to the case lugs.
Make sure the hands move without rubbing.
Set the time and date.
Wind it up and watch it tick!
(Optional: Use a timegrapher to regulate accuracy.)
